Some time ago, I had the pleasure of escorting guests from India for a holiday trip to West Nusa Penida. That journey still stays fresh in my mind — not only because of the stunning views, but also because of all the funny and unforgettable moments we shared from morning pickup until we returned to the hotel. Early in the morning, I headed to their hotel in Kuta. At 6:15 AM, I was already waiting in the lobby. When my guests came down, coffee in hand, one of them immediately said:
“Hope today will be unforgettable!”
I laughed and replied jokingly,
“If it’s not unforgettable, you don’t have to pay me!”
And we all burst into laughter.
Journey to Sanur Harbor
On the drive to Sanur Harbor, we chatted in the car while I explained a little about Bali — its peaceful atmosphere, traditions, culture, and Balinese house architecture. One of them asked why Balinese people often hold ceremonies and why every house has a small temple. I explained briefly about Hindu traditions in Bali, and they were surprised because some customs are quite similar to those in India.
As we continued, the sun slowly rose. The roads were still quiet, and we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise between buildings and trees. One of them said they rarely wake up this early in India, but for the beauty of Nusa Penida, they were willing to start the day early.
Crossing to Nusa Penida
Arriving at the harbour, I parked the car since it would stay there all day, then guided them to the fast boat office I had booked earlier. After registration, the staff led us to the terminal building — a modern, international-style harbour that made our excitement grow even more. My guests stopped several times to take photos because the architecture was so unique and beautiful. Once inside the boat, our adventure truly began. The speed was fast, the waves quite high — it felt like riding a sea roller coaster. But instead of being scared, they enjoyed every second of it.
One of them shouted excitedly: “This is only the beginning, I can’t imagine the next spots!”
The crossing from Sanur to Nusa Penida took about 45 minutes.
Arrival on Nusa Penida
When we arrived at Nusa Penida Harbor, our local driver partner welcomed us and took us to the car. West Nusa penida trip that is: Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong and Crystal Bay. Now I'll break them down one by one:
*Kelingking Beach
The drive to Kelingking took around 40 minutes. When we arrived, everyone suddenly went silent for a few seconds…
Then one of them whispered:
“This doesn’t look real…”
From the cliff top, the mix of turquoise ocean, green cliffs shaped like a T-Rex, and crashing waves below was simply breathtaking. They were busy taking photos, shooting videos, and making selfies — at one point it felt almost like a pre-wedding photo session!
Funny moment:
One guest asked if people could really walk all the way down to the beach.
I said, “Yes, but you need extra
cardio.”
He replied: “Then I choose life.”
We all laughed again.
*Broken Beach — Speechless Beauty
Next stop was Broken Beach. The road was sandy and the wind quite strong. As soon as we arrived, that huge circular cliff formation left everyone amazed.Waves flowed through the natural arch into a massive pool, truly spectacular.
They said:“This is like a natural stadium of the ocean!”
We took many slow-motion videos of the smooth waves hitting the rocks. When lunchtime came, we went to a local restaurant nearby. While enjoying our meal and chatting casually, they said the food was just as delicious as what they’d tasted back in Kuta. After lunch, we continued to our next stop — Angel’s Billabong.
Angel’s Billabong — Crystal Clear Water
Just a short walk from Broken Beach, we reached Angel’s Billabong. The water was so clear like a natural infinity pool carved from stone. We sat for a while, enjoying the sea breeze. They said this was the most aesthetic spot of the day.
One of the ladies smiled and said:
“I want to put this view inside my pocket!”
Crystal Bay — Coconut & Sunset Vibes
Our final destination was Crystal Bay, where it was time to fully relax. They ordered fresh young coconuts, sat on bean bags, and said:
“The most peaceful moment in Bali.”
Some of them went snorkeling ,the water was so clear that small fish could be seen directly from the surface.
Here, our conversations became more personal about family, Indian culture, and why they chose Bali for their holiday. Without realizing it, afternoon turned into late day, and we headed back to the harbour.
Return to Sanur
At the pier, our pre-booked fast boat was ready. Around 4:00 PM, we sailed back to Sanur. On the boat, everyone was quiet, tired, but smiling. Most of them fell asleep, except one guest who was still happily filming shaky videos because of the waves.
As Sanur Harbour slowly came into view, they began to wake up. We docked, got off the boat, walked back to the parking area, and then drove back to their hotel in Kuta.
They stepped out of the car looking tired, but truly happy.
They said: “Thank you, Mr. Dewa, for taking us to such amazing places with breathtaking beaches and landscapes.”
They looked completely satisfied with their day . As a driver and tour guide, I felt truly happy. For us, seeing our guests smile and feel joyful during their vacation is always our top priority.
