An Unforgettable Bali Adventure with South African Guests – VW Safari Experience
Hello Bro & Sis,
Good morning, stay positive and energetic for today’s activities!
This morning, I had a great opportunity to accompany six guests from South Africa. They had booked this trip one month in advance and were staying in the Ubud area. The itinerary they requested included:
- Handara Gate
- Ulun Danu Beratan Temple
- Trekking at Jatiluwih Rice Terrace
- Visiting a Luwak Coffee Plantation
What made this trip special was their request to use two types of vehicles: an MPV and classic VW Safari cars. They asked me to organize the journey in a fun and memorable way.
Hotel Pick-Up in Ubud – Heading to Handara Gate
I picked them up from their hotel in Ubud at around 9:00 AM. The drive from Ubud to Handara Gate took approximately 1.5 hours. Prior to arrival, I had already arranged two VW Safari cars to be on standby at Handara Gate.
Upon arrival, I assisted them with purchasing entrance tickets. Fortunately, the place was not too crowded, so we received the first queue number.
All guests took turns taking photos at Handara Gate with various poses, including walking videos and a group photo. We spent about 35 minutes enjoying this iconic spot.
A Unique Experience with VW Safari
The two VW Safari cars were ready, one red and one white. In Indonesia, red symbolizes bravery, while white represents purity, just like the colors of the Indonesian flag.
Since there were six guests, they were divided into two groups:
- 3 guests in the red VW
- 3 guests in the white VW
Before continuing the journey, they enjoyed taking photos inside the VW cars with different poses. Once they were satisfied, we continued the trip to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple – Serenity and Natural Beauty
The drive to Ulun Danu Beratan took about 5 minutes. I followed behind while recording videos of them riding in the VW Safari.Upon arrival, I helped them buy entrance tickets and guided them to the best photo spots inside the temple area.
The cool fresh air, the beautiful lake view, and the traditional temple architecture created a peaceful atmosphere that made the guests want to stay longer.
However, since we still had more destinations to visit, we continued our journey to Jatiluwih Rice Terrace.
Journey to Jatiluwih – Stunning Rice Terraces
The drive from Ulun Danu Beratan to Jatiluwih took around 45 minutes. Along the way, the guests occasionally stopped to take photos, even standing on the VW Safari cars at scenic spots.
They looked extremely happy, as this was their first time riding a classic VW car while enjoying Bali’s rural landscapes an experience very different from their home country.
Lunch & Rice Field Trekking in Jatiluwih
Upon arrival in Jatiluwih, the vast green rice terraces were truly breathtaking. We stopped at a restaurant located slightly above the road, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the rice fields.
The guests were already hungry, so we had lunch before starting the trekking. The restaurant offered à la carte and buffet options, and we chose the buffet because of its wide variety of dishes.
After enjoying lunch and relaxing for about one hour, we continued with a trekking walk through the rice fields. Before that, the guests said goodbye to the VW Safari drivers, as the VW trip ended in Jatiluwih. They expressed their gratitude for the excellent service and generously tipped the drivers.
During the walk, I explained the rice cultivation process, from planting to harvesting. The guests also observed local farmers cleaning irrigation channels, spraying rice plants, and carrying grass in baskets to feed their cattle—an authentic rural experience they truly enjoyed.
Luwak Coffee Plantation Experience
Our next destination was a Luwak Coffee Plantation, located about 20 minutes from Jatiluwih.
Upon arrival, the staff warmly welcomed us and guided the guests through the plantation to explain the coffee-making process. The guests enjoyed coffee and tea tasting and had the opportunity to purchase coffee and tea as souvenirs.
Return to the Hotel – Full of Stories and Smiles
The journey back to Ubud took approximately one hour. Along the way, the guests shared many exciting stories about their day. Although they looked a bit tired, their faces clearly showed happiness and satisfaction.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we shook hands and exchanged heartfelt thanks. We also planned to continue exploring other destinations together on the following days.
Today was truly a fun and memorable experience. As a driver and guide, I always strive to provide the best service—not only transporting guests, but also accompanying them in creating beautiful memories during their holiday in Bali.
If you would like to experience a journey like this, visiting Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, riding a VW Safari, and exploring the countryside and rice fields of Jatiluwih , we are ready to accompany you with friendly, safe, and unforgettable service.
